I want to write something about September 11th on today, the tenth anniversary, but I’m coming up blank. I feel like everything meaningful you can say about it has already been said. Five years ago, I wrote about my own experience that day- if you’re curious, you can read about it here.
Today, my thoughts are with the friends and families of the victims of both the September 11th attacks and all of the subsequent violence. This is probably too much to ask for, but I hope someday we can look back on that day and know, with complete certainty, that nothing like it could ever happen again.
I always tear up when i think about the events that happened on sept. 11th. i remember exactly what was going through my mind and everything that happened that day in great detail.
I was afraid for my family members because most of them lived in NYC at the time, and one of them worked in the twin towers. Thankfully none of them were physically hurt, but my uncle who worked in the towers was walking in between them when the first plane hit. He came home covered in soot and he still hasn't fully gotten over it to this day.
I couldn't even imagine experiencing such a tragedy. So many lives were lost and spirits crushed, but with everything bad comes something good, and i truly believe that this country as never been more united than it is now.
